Why We’re Leaving X: Choosing Positive Platforms Over Toxic Media
Hey, music fam! We want to share why we’re stepping back from X (formerly Twitter) and will no longer post or engage on the platform. It’s not a decision we made lightly, but it’s one that reflects our commitment to a healthy, positive, and secure community.
X has become a more toxic platform over the last few years. While social media often has its share of negativity, X has transformed into a space that thrives on drama, hostility, and divisive opinions. Instead of being a place for creative dialogue and meaningful engagement, it often feels like it’s built to amplify conflict. We’ve always valued thoughtful conversation and respectful exchanges about music and culture—unfortunately, that’s becoming harder to find on X.
Our decision also relates to the influence of X’s current owner, Elon Musk. His ability to shape discourse on X has raised concerns for us, especially as his political and social views increasingly find a voice through the platform. X’s direction, aligned more closely with Musk’s interests than the public’s, doesn’t reflect our values. We’re a place for diverse perspectives, and we’re concerned about supporting a platform that holds so much power over public opinion without being accountable to it.
To put it simply, we’re looking for spaces that reflect our core values of community, creativity, and constructive conversation. You can still find us on Instagram, Threads, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr and our own site—places where we can connect with you and share ideas without the drama or influence of any one individual.
Thanks for being on this journey with us. We’re excited to keep building something special with you on platforms that inspire, not drain, us all!
