“The Best Is Yet To Be” – Deleo’s Debut Album Defies Odds and Establishes Them as a Force in Music
Deleo’s debut album is a testament to the resolute optimism that the band embodies. Titled “The Best Is Yet To Be,” the album is a reflection of the band’s evolution and progress since its formation in 2018. Against all odds, including the challenges of the pandemic and confinements, Deleo has managed to easily compete with the bigwigs of the genre, from The Cure to Radiohead, Placebo, and Depeche Mode.
The band was founded by Denis Navarro when he met Eleonore, the singer, and guitarist. From their musical partnership, Deleo was born, a contraction of their two names. Denis Navarro, an accomplished composer, had already demonstrated his skills within several alternative rock bands. Additionally, he had several years of experience in marketing and communication after creating his agency. He sent demos of his music to international music platforms and eventually seduced British producer James Sanger, a recipient of twenty Grammy Awards and known for producing records for U2, Madonna, and others.
Impressed by the talented French group, James Sanger invited the now quintet to his studios in Normandy, where they recorded several songs, including three impeccable singles, “Unfair,” “Mythomania,” and “Going Home.” Unfortunately, the album project was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the departure of several band members, including the new singer Emy Eris. Despite the setback, Denis Navarro decided to go back to his fundamentals and collaborate with renowned producer and arranger Philippe Uminski.
Deleo wasted no time getting back to work, this time as a trio with Emilie on vocals and Félicien on bass. With the guidance of the independent label My Own Records, they began shaping their first real album, “The Best Is Yet To Be.” The album consists of eleven tracks, blending ferocious guitar riffs, hypnotic rhythms, and imperious vocals and sequences of cosmic choruses. The album features three previously released singles, totally remixed, and accompanied by two new tracks, “You Feel” and “Satellite.” The result is an alternation of dark rock and dancing pop, blowing hot and cold, between the hidden and luminous sides of the same moon hovering in the stratospheres of indie rock, post-punk, and cold wave.
The album’s title, “The Best Is Yet To Be,” is a reflection of the band’s unwavering optimism, which has been fully realized in their latest release. With their unique sound and undeniable talent, Deleo has firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
