Norwich’s heavyweights, Sleemo, left a remarkable impact as they ended 2022 with their latest release. But it seems like the band is just getting started as they welcome 2023 with their new chapter, highlighted by the release of their latest single, “Y.A.N.O.” The song, released under Beth Shalom Records, tackles the narrative of succumbing to alcohol and drugs as a way to escape the mundanity of everyday life.

As the band gears up for their upcoming UK dates with Eat Your Own Head, they made sure to develop their sound by performing alongside Jamie Lenman, DITZ, CLT DRP, Torus, and Enola Gay, among others, in various UK locations. Their latest singles signify a fresh beginning for Sleemo, marking their growth as musicians and artists.

When asked about their latest single, Sleemo, the band’s vocalist, stated, “You Are Not Owned is a song about how society feeds us with drugs and alcohol to distract us from the monotonous and dull life that we have been conditioned to lead. Within this societal construct, we have lost touch with our actions, and we commit terrible deeds in the name of fun, absolving ourselves of any blame. We end up resorting to more alcohol and drugs because they are the only solutions provided to us to justify the boredom of life. You Are Not Owned is a wake-up call to break free from the chains that society has put on us and take responsibility for our ignorance through an unwavering, non-symbolic experience.”

With Sleemo’s creative minds and remarkable artistry, it’s safe to say that we can expect more thought-provoking and soul-stirring music from them in the years to come.
