From Cult Upbringing to Mesmerising Secular Spiritual Rock
HNRY FLWR’s journey from growing up in a cult in Iowa to becoming a rising star in the music industry is nothing short of fascinating. Along with his psychic mother, who claims to remember being born, he travelled the world and meditated from a young age. As an adult, his eclectic inspirations range from hypnotism to drone music to televangelism to clowning, and he channels these experiences into his music.
Together with his six-piece band in New York City, HNRY FLWR produces a unique blend of a secular spiritual rock that has been described as powerfully immersive and moving. Their live performances are said to be church-like in their intensity, leaving audiences entranced and mesmerized.
In 2017, HNRY FLWR’s debut EP, FLOWERAMA, was released to critical acclaim. Produced by David Groener Jr. (known for his work with The National and Jonsi), the EP features sweeping 80s synths, jangle-psych guitars, vintage drum machines, and HNRY FLWR’s haunting baritone. Themes of mystery, human connection, and The Infinite Void are explored throughout the EP, which has amassed over half a million streams on Spotify.
As a rising star in the music industry, HNRY FLWR’s unique background and eclectic influences are reflected in his mesmerizing sound, and he is definitely one to watch.
