An emotive and creative artist
I wrote “Red Flags,” for my past self, as well as the countless other women stuck in toxic and abusive relationship cycles.
The lyrics mean to bolster the listener’s confidence, remove shame, and give hope that one day they will be able to get out of their situation – perhaps by making their own ‘bouquet’ of red flags.
“Red Flags” was first written for a live band, but it developed into the spoken-word, electro-pop version it is today after a lot of work and reflection. Long-time collaborator Brandon Gibson-Degroote supported me in the process of mixing this track.
The official video for “Red Flags,” is a time-lapse of the creation of the cover art. Line drawing and watercolour reflect a body, lying down and covered in tiny red flags.
