An actor, a producer, a teacher and a tech manager
Behind Looney Gloomers stand two lead singers and two multi-instrumentalists, introducing their very own indie sub-genre called New Now. The Copenhagen and London-based four-piece, debut a new single ‘Muscles’ out now.
Looney Gloomers was formed by an actor, a producer, a teacher and a tech manager. They found each other through the curious sensation of feeling different, both in school and at home, both with friends and alone – and If you are reading this and thinking “I know that sensation” then you might not be so different from the Looney Gloomers yourself.
“Difference and diversity are key to progress and love and it’s always been the key to create curiosity for Looney Gloomers”
‘Muscles’is the lead single from Looney Gloomers’ second album – an 8-tracker, written, recorded and mixed in only 20 days! An exciting experience that ‘Muscles’ embodies.
“This song is an important one for us. We really wanted to create a piece of music that, like a great book, will inspire and make you wonder. The beauty of Steinbeck’s ‘Grapes of Wrath is that it’s the ultimate tragedy but at the same time it really gives you so much hope. We think ‘Muscles’ channels this perfectly.”
It’s been less than a year since the release of their debut album, ‘House of Dying Days – a lyrical concept-LP praised by both Danish and international media. This time the band took a huge risk in making yet another concept album, but contrary to their debut, the process of rapid, impulsive writing and recordings was in conceptual focus.
“We really try as much as possible to bend and merge modern genres, whilst unfolding a lyrical cosmos of metaphors and fragile self-deprecating narratives. It has given our band the opportunity to play around with the boundaries of a novel genre we like to call New Now.”
The four little shits especially make use of the self-deprecating humour and this might be the reason for their notorious stage performance in nightgowns, but honestly, who knows…
What we do know is that when they’re not on a set filming for Netflix or producing new songs for other musicians or teaching children or supporting tech information, the four friends get together, regardless of their differences, and make music that matters – making music as Looney Gloomers!
