A coming-of-age movie soundtrack
Holding listeners captivated with a breath-taking combination of rich melodic guitar and songwriting that cuts to the core. ‘Grown Up’ delivers a compelling, refreshingly honest collection of songs, that reflect on past mistakes and revel in a future rich with possibilities.
Gorran said about the EP “‘Grown Up’ is made up of a series of moments that have made me who I am today, focusing on my mid-teens until now. It’s my own coming-of-age movie soundtrack. I’ve been on such an incredible journey throughout the process of its creation – through the pandemic, through one relationship ending and another beginning, and through a multitude of experiences that have taught me more about myself than ever before. I wanted the project to feel like a warm hug sonically, and I really think we achieved that.”
He continued to talk about ‘Grown Up’ the lead single “This song is about someone reminiscing over their childhood crush, who never liked them back in the same way. It felt very fitting that we finished the title track right at the end of the process, as it tied the EP together so perfectly. I love the experimental route we went down for the structure of the song, and the explosive scene-change in the outro. It was also really fun to get friends, fans, and family involved in the recording process remotely, with them contributing to a small group vocal moment in the big outro.”
Gorran’s passion and flair for music were evident from a young age, where during his time at the prestigious BRIT School (alumni including Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Rex Orange County), he developed his distinctive sound and dynamic live show. Since graduating, Gorran has been writing and recording with industry professionals to produce original, bold and gritty pop tracks. Influenced by the likes of Post Malone, Lauv and Billie Eilish, Gorran strives to create music that oozes with real emotion.
Support for the young musician continues to gather pace, with tracks from the EP being supported by the likes of Wonderland, The Line of Best Fit and Songwriting Magazine. Gorran’s own brand of contemporary pop with dark undertones has been resonating with audiences across the globe since his debut ‘Easy For You’ in July 2019. Follow-up singles, ‘Hush’ and ‘I Don’t Love You Anymore’ both garnered commercial acclaim, and the artist’s fanbase continues to grow boasting over 17k listeners and over 1.4 million streams on Spotify alone.
Gorran has seen success opening for KT Tunstall on her UK tour, performing to sold-out audiences across the nation, as well as having graced the stage at the legendary London Roundhouse. Busy writing and recording with the industry’s finest, and with more stunning new music to follow, Gorran looks set to take the pop scene by storm.
