Wonderfully warm and ethereal

After spending the last few years unveiling a wealth of sweet and seductive offerings, Canadian singer and songwriter Sara-Danielle has emerged once again to deliver her luxurious new single ‘Want More’.

Channelling a wonderfully warm and ethereal direction from start to finish, ‘Want More’ sees the artist at ease on this tranquil new effort. With her bright and soul-enriched voice layered over a calm and ambient production throughout, she captivates with her powerful prowess and returns with one of her most alluring releases to date.

Speaking about the new offering, she said, “This song takes as its starting point a thought I had about efficiency and accomplishment, about what we value as a society. We indulge in productivity; we find value in what we accomplish. We ARE the work we do, the projects we come up with. But we always want more. When the work is done, we feel an adrenaline rush (at least for me!), we feel as if we’ve accomplished something meaningful. But when the rush wears out, we’re back to where we began; and we want more. We get lost in this spiral, we get confused. To realize that we’ll never have enough to feel something truly meaningful. So, we look for something else, another project, another thing to value ourselves with. As I sing “We always want more,” it can apply to material things as well. Meaning we can also value ourselves with what we own. When I wrote this song, it was more of a reflection on work and accomplishment, but I realize now that the lyrics have a deeper meaning according to what moves us.”

While the video’s director Brian Sokolowski adds, “Raver green alien in dayglo orange at a nighttime race track? Check! Powder blue high rise basketball chic? Check! Want More slides into fashion, fast cars, and yeehaw. Sara-Danielle breezes through her latest single with goopy and playful ease. Watch it!”

Through her solid compositions, which tastefully evoke Charlotte Day Wilson, Lianne La Havas, Leif Vollebekk or Lana Del Rey, Sara-Danielle’s strength is revealed, captivating, by her ability to embrace and soothe. As she glitters tenderly in the high notes and cosies up with warmth in the lows, the artist conveys that strange still reassuring impression that everything is easy, even when her voice cracks a little.

With a debut EP ‘Healing’, released in 2019, in her back pocket, the twenty-something is now racking up over 600,000 plays on Spotify, in addition to having federated a total of 45,000 listeners in a single month on that same platform. Mainly followed in Canada, the United States and France, she was included among Bandcamp’s editorial recommendations shortly after putting out of her latest effort. She was also featured on various music blogs internationally such as Earmilk, Le canal auditif, Rocknfool, Audiofemme and glamglare, and on CISM, CJLO, Tabarnak and Radio Grooverstations.

To date, Sara-Danielle has performed as an opening act for established artists such as Pomme, Marie-Pierre Arthur, Clay & Friends and Heartstreets, as well as in concerts presented by Festival Diapason, POP Montreal, Osheaga, the Fashion & Design Festival and Sofar Sounds Montreal. Her talent coupled with a generous energy charms the audience wherever she appears.

A few months after teaming up with Reno McCarthy on their ‘Dance with You’ single, the artist is now reunited with producer and multi-instrumentalist Jesse Mac Cormak (Helena Deland, Les sœurs Boulay, Philippe Brach), with whom she had previously worked last year for a song titled ‘Scared’. Together, they are currently recording Another Self, Sara-Danielle’s sophomore EP due out in the spring of 2022.

Sara-Danielle’s new single ‘Want More’ will be available now from Simone Records.
