In these almost unbearable times of physical distancing, Mina Okabe’s gentle voice is here to embrace you like a much-needed real-life hug. Her new single, ’Walk Away’, is the sound of warm spring sun hitting your winter-skin – like a refreshing plunge into the azure-blue Mediterranean Sea.

Mina Okabe is the reassurance of something better on the horizon – even though her love is bittersweet.

“I wrote ‘Walk Away’ about the feeling of not knowing if the guy that I was seeing was as interested in me as I was in him. I was asking myself if I should walk away from what we had or keep giving him chances to prove me wrong,” Mina Okabe explains.

The song’s sound of warmer skies was not a coincidence:

“I missed summer so much when I recorded this! So I took some of the best sunny memories I had on my phone and put them up on the computer screen to constantly remind me of the feeling I wanted. And even though the subject is pretty sad I feel like ‘Walk Away’ became a reflection of those pictures.”

Last year saw the release of 20-year-old Mina Okabe’s debut single, ‘I’m Done’. Soon, the shimmery pop song and the name of a talented Danish-Japanese songwriter was front-page material on more than 15 international blogs – including a track recommendation from Official Charts in the UK.

In Denmark, the two biggest music magazines – GAFFA and Soundvenue – named Mina Okabe “One To Watch” for 2021 and eventually, ‘I’m Done’ was “Track of the Week” on national Danish radio P3!
