Columbus, OH-based Captain Kidd has gone from performing at dive clubs in the Midwest to supporting the likes of Glass Animals, Capital Cities, Wiz Khalifa, and Griz at major music festivals.
Their 2017 single “Wild” landed on Spotify’s USA Viral Top 50 and rose to #1 on Hypem’s Popular Chart. The following track “Bleed” accumulated over 100k plays in just 2 days, and over 1 million four months later. After a series of successful releases, they went on hiatus in October 2019 following the departure of drummer Nick Samson.
With the future of the band uncertain, lead singer/songwriter Nathan Baumgard began collaborating with local Columbus producer Kyle Kanzigg (Mal Compris) on an initially-unrelated side project. Kanzigg officially joined Captain Kidd in early 2020 and the duo began writing and recording their upcoming EP, which includes their latest single “Over It” (#1 Hypem’s Popular Chart).
