Where in the world is Mike Baretz right now? Probably mixing his next track in his East Village apartment where there are more compressors and preamps than hoodies in the closet. Mike Baretz is a singer, songwriter and producer who blends r&b/groove-infused production, pop-conscious melodies, and high-level musicianship that emanates through his versatile catalogue. His diversified style comes from his range of influences, with artists from John Mayer to D’angelo to Charlie Puth.
Mike has studied with 2x Grammy award-winning composer Herschel Garfein, and is mentored by artist developer and pianist Vera Tisheff (Leonard Bernstein, Earl “Fatha” Hines). When he is not honing his pianistic technique or arranging a string quartet to be performed at Juilliard, he is selling out shows at Muchmore’s, Cornelia Street Cafe, and other venues in the NYC/Brooklyn area with just him, a guitar or piano, and a computer. His two singles, “Any Other Way” and “Foolish to Try” just came out in early fall, and there is no way that you’ll be able to get them out of your head.
“Any Other Way” is a pop/R&B track depicting a troubled relationship with a longing of someone and wanting to see a relationship through. Its modern drums paired with multiple vocal layers bring a freshness to today’s music.
