When you hear a voice that transports you to a different place, makes you feel something intangible, and stays with long after the song has ended, you know you’ve found something truly special. Hannah Acfield is an exceptional vocalist and songwriter.

Described as “a luscious blend of Aretha Franklin and Joni Mitchell”, Acfield’s vocally powerful and melodically rich songwriting combines the storytelling of folk music and the emotive expression of gospel/soul. Goyte (Wally DeBacker) describes her as “an expressive voice that engages you instantly”, while Venetta Fields says Hannah has “the best voice I’ve heard in a long time”. Part of a musical family, it’s not surprising that Hannah has been playing music most of her life.

After studying contemporary music at the Queensland Conservatorium, Hannah moved down South. A soloist for the Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir, Hannah’s flexibility and experience as a vocalist has seen her travel the country and the world making music both as a solo artist and as one half of the folk duo The Acfields. She has self-released two solo EP’s before releasing a double ‘A-Side’, one EP and two albums with ‘The Acfield’s. Highlights include being awarded Highly Commended in the QMusic Awards (2016), MusicOz Finalist (2010, 2012) and #65 in the 4ZZZ Hottest 100.

Hannah has toured extensively throughout Australia and overseas supported artists such as Joan Armatrading, Josh Pyke and Vika and Linda Bull. She has spent the last year exploring her songwriting, experimenting with vocal arrangements and tinkering on different instruments to create a new path mixing her favourite genres. With a collection of thirty songs, Hannah excited to be heading into the studio to record a solo album, her first release since 2010. Acfield will warm your heart and open your soul.
