Grey Watson got together with director Gideon Rogers in South Korea and spent a day with local performers – particularly a couple of members from the House of Tease and Starlight Burlesque collective—and shot this video. Rogers developed a concept for the video based on the lyrical content of Spinning Wheels.
The song references the myth of Sisyphus and poses an existential inquiry questioning whether or not it’s worth it to do the very work that this release encapsulates. The video portrays several people who seem to live multiple lives, one in which their true selves stay mostly obscured to serve some societal purpose. As the video progresses, they shed those false selves to show a more true and realized–freer version of themselves. Getting to this version of ourselves is one of the real challenges and struggles of this life.
Director Gideon Rogers had this to say about it:
“We all really liked the idea that, after a long day of rolling his boulder up a hill, Sisyphus clocks out and just cuts loose. So we loaded up a two-car caravan with gear and friends, drove out to the beach, threw glitter, ripped clothing and cracked whips. It was a good day.”
