In Saticöy’s video for their newest single “Nice to Know" they explore how grief and remembrance are exhibited in different ways by different people. Directed by Michael Arter, there’s a sharp contrast between the muted grief of the black and grey wake and the escape of the younger generation in vibrant colour as they lift their spirits in celebration of life.
They wander the streets taking part in the rituals and past times they once experienced with the departed, from carousel and train rides to dips in the ocean swimming amongst the sea lions. The emotional arch goes from exuberant to reflective melancholy, capturing the stages we all get lost in as we look back on the spirit of the loved one we’ve lost. Saticöy’s video is a visual showcase of how uniquely grief touches each of us while providing an opportunity to say goodbye in the only way we know-how.
