Norwich born, MOBO-supported artist and producer Freya Roy is back on the scene following a 5-year hiatus with her second single ’22 Movements’ from forthcoming debut album AHLKE.
With a perfect blend of serene vocals and a groovy backbeat, the lyrics reflect on Freya’s experiences of coming out during her university years and exploring her sexual identity. Referring to the taboo subject of the sexualisation of gay women, this powerful, thought-provoking track gives us an insight for what is to come with the rest of the album.
Following a successful crowd funding campaign and backing from the MOBO trust and Help Musicians UK, Freya Roy will release album AHLKE on the 29th April with her UK tour commencing just a few weeks prior.
Freya Roy is one of three artists longlisted by Resonance FM for Glastonbury’s emerging talent competition 2019 saying “Expertly-crafted with a strong soulful voice” – Winners to be announced on Saturday 27th April.
