Justin Salter takes us to a dreamy, chill day at the beach in his new music video “You and Me.” The Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and engineer got his start as the drummer for Scary Kids Scaring Kids in 2005 and continued to grow his musical talents from there.
A hard-working musician in his own right, his credits include serving as an engineer on records for iconic artists like Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys, and Aaliyah, as well as producer credits for Jackie Lopez & Sksk/Immortal Records. His original work includes everything from scoring music for the documentary “The Vision of Paolo Soleri: Prophet in the Desert” as well as hit TV shows like “America’s Got Talent and Anna Graceman.” But it’s on his unforgettably hooky urban pop tracks that Salter shines brightest.
Inspired by real events, “You and Me"begin with a quirky Uber driver playing a track for one of his beautiful passengers. Suddenly, the video morphs into a romantic day on the beach in picturesque Santa Monica, California. From the slow ascent on the Ferris wheel to watching the sunset over the ocean, it’s clear that a burgeoning love affair is about to take off. The track itself, written for Salter’s own leading lady, is infused with carefree vibes and packed with chill beats pulled right from the heydays of old school 90’s hip-hop cuts. The real twist, however, comes at the end of this spontaneous day at the beach, when viewers realize maybe it wasn’t such a wild dream after all.
