It’s been said many times: the only constant changes. Throughout the recording of his upcoming debut album Fluorescent Memories, Andrew Goldring was constantly reminded of this mantra.

2017 was a year of transition for the Utah songwriter; time spent breaking old habits and searching for inspiration in the mountains & deserts of his home state. In the midst of these changes, Andrew found himself building out an old garage into a recording studio. This safe space to create sparked dozens of spontaneous recording sessions with friends, laying the groundwork for his most collaborative album to date.

Fluorescent Memories marks a bold step forward, following 2017’s EP Morning Light which was praised by Huffington Post, Substream Magazine, among other notable press outlets. The new album was co-produced by Jon O’Brien (Young the Giant, Listener) and mastered by Philip Shaw Bova (Andy Shauf, Bahamas, Land of Talk).

Discover the Easiest Way to Learn Piano

Themes of joy, sadness, death & romance all coincide across the ten tracks like a collage of memories, surrounded by layers of sound both obscure & familiar. Catchy choruses cross paths with cassette samples, acoustic croonings meet fuzz-drenched guitar & verbed out the piano on an unpredictable sonic journey.

The album’s first single “Chemical Spirit Connection” is an upbeat indie-rock song whose lyrics recall a strange encounter one night at the neighborhood dive bar. “Stuck like a broken record, spun out repeating all your lines” the chorus repeats through a wall of warbled guitars.

Whether Andrew is writing music with his friends, touring the country, or producing for other artists in his home studio, there’s one thing that won’t change & that’s his endless desire to create beautiful music.
