I Do
Aged 18 with over 4 years of live performance, playing guitar and writing songs, including festivals such as Mugstock, Pandorafest, Northhop and Vamos Americanafest. Lisa has fearlessly sung to thousands at St Mirren FC and was invited by the Scottish Football Association to perform at Scotland international games. Lisa released her debut EP in 2017, funded by Paisley 2021 UK City of Culture bid.
The songs received lots of radio play, an appearance on STV, the BBC at the Fringe, and comments from music people that she has immense talent and “will make it” one day. The songs were written between age 14 and 16. Title track Free Spirits has been included in the Fatea Autumn showcase compilation album of UK wide artists. Lisa won Renfrewshire Live and Unsigned Award May 2017 and has just been nominated for Best Female Artist in the Radio Wigwam awards. She was also a prize-winning finalist in the Salute Music UK Music Makers competition and the Radio Clyde Jim Diamond Awards.
In 2018, gained further recognition of her songwriting skills, reaching the finals of the Song Academy Young Songwriter competition, judged by Tom Odell and Guy Chambers. She also was selected for emerging artist showcase slots at Celtic Connections, Killin Folk Festival and Dougie MacLean’s Perthshire Amber festival. Another aim, to take her music further afield, took Lisa to gigs in Newcastle, London, and even New York, where she was invited by the American Scottish foundation to perform for New York Tartan Week in April 2018. Her sound has been compared to early Taylor Swift (her initial inspiration, Suzanne Vega, Sheryl Crow, Regina Spektor, and Kirsty MacColl.
