Heartsore was written about an old friendship of mine that began to fall apart after it became one-sided. I kept trying to resuscitate what we had before, but my efforts were futile and it took me years to come to terms with it.

Since I was never given any closure, this song was my own form of it. The song is also structured in a way that mirrors how I really dealt with the situation. In the beginning, I seek pity and wish for things that weren’t there, but as the song goes on I begin to realize why things turned out the way they did and I shift the blame from myself onto the other person. While originally I wasn’t going to release this song, I realized how much it helped me overcome something really difficult and wanted others who needed it to be able to hear it too.
