Chenny Britt is a singer/songwriter from Boston, MA with a penchant for captivating pop melodies, touting a mainstream appeal in addition to some idiosyncratic pursuits.
“Like a Painter” is more of a typical song about relationships, and how both parties in today’s generation play mind games and never want to admit how they feel. “In terms of storyline, I think of it as more of a generic pop song,” Chenny explains. “My roommate and I were having some "girl problems” in our own lives, and both of us would be venting to each other. I took a lot of our own experiences and crafted that song.“
"Like a Painter” is a fresh, colorful pop effort that begins with intrigue – with the vocal sample and distant backing vocals accompanying a stuttering synth as Chenny Britt’s smooth-flowing vocals enter the fold. The bridge past the one-minute mark introduces some clicking percussion that leads seamlessly into the hook at 01:18, where a tropical-like melody assumes prominence. The interlude at 02:29 provides a nice, serene touch, with some variation to help strengthen the subsequent and ensuing hook.
